Hi. I’m Big Billy and I’m glad to be joining the HIF crew. I’m going to be writing a weekly article about anything that is going on in hip hop. It may be about an album, a rapper, anything. I want your ideas for what to write about. If there’s enough people that want something, I’ll do that, or if I just personally like it, I’ll do it. But these articles are going to be MY opinions and thoughts. If you disagree with me, I want you to let me know. In fact, I hope there are some people that disagree. So, leave your ideas in the comments and I will have my first article out soon.

Hey, I love the website and glad to see there are new writers for the site, but It would be nice to keep up with the whole Lil’ Wayne, “Rebirth” situation. e.i. it leaking, the amazon screw up, and all the info on it. Not trying to hate, love the site, and please keep up the work!

You could write about your opinion on the possibility of Cash Money Records merging with Warner Bros Music.
Also, what are your thoughts about all these rappers having their mini-labels these days (i.e. Young Money, Nappy Boy, G.O.O.D. Music, T.I.M.E., Skull Gang, G-Unit, etc…)?

AIIT BIG BILLY I WANT YOU TO TALK ABOUT HIP-HOP TODAY AND HIP-HOP IN THE 90′S AND WHY THAT DECADE PRODUCED SO MANY CLASSICS (SEE BELOW) AND WHY THIS DECADE SEEM TO STRUGGLE TO CATCH UP I ALSO WANT YOU TO TALK ABOUT WHY THIS ERA IN HIP-HOP LYRICS DONT MATTER AS MUCH AS IT DID IN THE 90′S WHICH IS THE REASON WHY THE ALBUMS BELOW WERE CLASSICS:
THE CHRONIC,
36 CHAMBERS,
ILLMATIC,
THE INFAMOUS,
DOGGYSTYLE,
READY TO DIE,
ONLY BUILT FOR CUBAN LINX,
LIFESTYLEZ OF DA POOR & DANGEROUS
ME AGAINST THE WORLD,
REASONABLE DOUBT,
ALL EYEZ ON ME,
LIFE AFTER DEATH,
THE DON KILLUMINATI: 7 DAY THEORY
ITS DARK AND HELL IS HOT,
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT,
FLESH OF MY FLESH BLOOD OF MY BLOOD,
MONEY, POWER, RESPECT
CHRONIC 2001, ETC

OK TO THE PERSON THAT SAYS “THEY DON’T WANT NO DAMN ARTICLES” ABOVE THIS IS WHY HIP-HOP IS DIEING BECAUSE OF YOUNG IMMATURE FUCKS LIKE YOU WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND HIP-HOP AS A WHOLE OR HAVE ANY APPRECIATION FOR IT. THAT’S ANOTHER THING WITH THIS GENERATION AND MY GENERATION WHO GREW UP IN THE 90′S ATLEAST WE KNOW SOME HISTORY OF HIP-HOP THIS GENERATION HAVE NO SENSE OF IT AT ALL!
I THINK ITS A FUCKING GREAT IDEA TO HAVE ARTICLES THAT TALK ABOUT HIP-HOP (ALBUMS & RAPPERS) ITS TIME TO EDUCATE OUR YOUTH WHO REALLY DON’T UNDERSTAND THE CRAFT OF RAP!

I JUST GOT ANOTHER GREAT IDEA BIG BILLY ON NAS “HIP-HOP IS DEAD” ALBUM HE HAD A SONG “WHERE ARE THEY NOW?” WHICH EVENTUALLY HAD A 80′S, 90′S AND A WEST COAST REMIX YOU CAN CHECK THEM OUT BELOW ON YOUTUBE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-EdvkNRA6g (WHERE ARE THEY NOW?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caqyeRrVyCc (80′S)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTme3115HKE (90′S)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xwo6wV8oZY4 (WEST-COAST)
I WANT YOU TO TALK ABOUT THE RAPPERS NAS TALKS ABOUT AND WHAT IMPACT THEY HAD ON HIP-HOP AND WHY THESE RAPPERS DIDNT SELL OUT LIKE TODAY’S RAPPERS!

AIIT BIG BILLY I KNOW I’M GIVING YOU A LOT OF HOMEWORK WHICH I’M SURE YOU DON’T MIND LOL BUT HERE’S ANOTHER GREAT IDEA FOR YOU TO WRITE ABOUT. IN THE SUMMER OF ‘08 JOE BUDDEN AKA MOUSE BUDDENS RELEASED A 15 MIN FREESTYLE SONG ABOUT “WHO KILLED HIP-HOP?” (SEE BELOW) VIBE MAGAZINE EVEN WROTE AN ARTICLE ABOUT IT TOO WHICH IS ALSO THE SONG THAT MADE HIM EARN A LOT OF MY RESPECT. I WANT YOU TO LISTEN TO IT AGAIN AND TELL US YOUR THOUGHT’S AND WHAT SPECIFICALLY IN THE SONG THAT YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH? ALSO IF ANYTHING MIGHT BE MISSING FROM THE SONG THAT YOU FEEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEMISE OF HIP-HOP!

Pay attention, homie, u messed up the Tags there. (;
Comment by Yung Hopp — December 27, 2009 @ 6:19 pm
i check the site everyday, hip hop is my hobby and escape so thanks for the quality site.. article idea sounds cool (although i hope expanding wont diminish the amount of attention spent on posting songs/albums).. topic i always argue with my ppl: what makes an artist a contender for being the best doing it (or best ever for that matter); pure freestyle skill, ability to write quality songs, a long career of solid albums, most sales, most original style, range, subject matter, rhyme scheme?.. its obviously a combo of these things and all subjective but that would be a cool opinion article that would generate discussion im sure
